The Battle for Supremacy
Women's 500 Freestyle: The ASU women, led by Deniz Ertan and Alexa Reyna, aim to defend their title. But Avery Dillion of TCU could be a wildcard, aiming to disrupt ASU's plans. The race is on!
Men's 500 Freestyle: The ASU men, favorites to retain their title, dominate the 50 free with Ilya Kharun, Tommy Palmer, Remi Fabiani, and Jonny Kulow. However, the 200 IM might be their Achilles' heel, with Utah's trio and BYU's Tanner Nelson posing a significant challenge.
Individual Events, Big Performances
Women's 500 Freestyle: Gabi Dyer of Kansas set the pace in the prelims, with a time of 4:45.52, closely followed by ASU's Ertan and Reyna. Houston's Emma Overall also impressed, securing a spot in the top three.
Men's 500 Freestyle: Arizona's Joel Nace and ASU's Noah Mudadu shone in their heats, with Nace setting a new PB and NCAA qualifying time. Utah's Nick Chirafisi and Jones Lambert, along with BYU's Tanner Nelson, also advanced.
Women's 200 IM: ASU's Jordan Greber and Houston's Alexia Duncan battled it out in the final heat, with Greber's strong backstroke split securing the top spot. ASU's Julia Ullmann, Sonia Vaishnani, Zoe Summar, and Ella Guilfoil also qualified for the final.
Men's 200 IM: ASU's Jordan Tiffany and Lucien Vergnes led the way, with Utah's Evan Van Brocklin and Finn Winkler close behind. A three-way tie for 8th place added to the excitement, with ASU's Michael Hochwalt, BYU's Tyler Edlefsen, and Utah's Durgan McKean all finishing in 1:45.70.
Women's 50 Freestyle: Arizona's Riley Botton, the only swimmer under 22.00, set a new PB of 21.90. ASU's Albane Cachot and Arizona's Julia Wozniak and Patricija Kondraskaite also qualified for the final.
Men's 50 Freestyle: ASU's Ilya Kharun took the top spot, with teammates Adam Chaney, Jonny Kulow, and Remi Fabiani also advancing. Arizona's Duncan Henderson and Quin Seider rounded out the top eight.
